Egyptian God Amun or Amon
|
He was worshiped in Thebes as the supreme creator thanks to the importance of the original city, Thebes, he ended up being assimilated to the god Ra, being known as Amun-Ra.
The great temple of Karnak is dedicated to Amun and also the temple of Luxor. Between the two temples there was a road on which during the annual festival of Opet the image of Amun processioned moving between the two temples. Amon-Ra traveled from Karnak to Luxor accompanied by Mut and Jonsu to visit Amun-Min.
Some pharaohs used the name of Amun in his own name, such as Tutankhamen
|
that means: living image of Amun.
