Introduction
The United ostrogodo was established by the Ostrogoths in Italy and surrounding areas from 493 to 553. In Italy the Ostrogoths led by Theodoric the Great, conquered the kingdom of Odoacer, who had deposed the last emperor of the Western Roman Empire, Romulus Augustus at 476. Under Theodoric, their first king, the Ostrogoth kingdom reached its zenith, ranging from modern France in the west to the modern Serbia in the southeast. Most social institutions late Western Roman Empire were preserved. In 553 they defeated the Byzantines and conquered the Ostrogoths.
